中国国际眼镜业展览会CIOF首次举办地点是上海，到了中国眼镜展改了地点在北京举行，得到当时的中国对外经济关系及贸易部(现中华人民共和国商务部)批准与支持，并且成为了中国官方**专业的国际眼镜业展会。到了(第十届)展会，中国眼镜协会把中国国际眼镜业展览会CIOF的英文名称改为 “CHINA INTERNATIONAL OPTICS FAIR”，显示了本展在国内外的地位，以及得到国际眼镜行业的商家参与及支持。
